Just before Christmas I received an email from one of the designers from the Hard To Find Magazine, asking if I would be interested in creating illustrations for each of the sections in their magazine. It was so flattering to be asked, and something that I thoroughly enjoyed working on. The girls at Hard To Find are truly inspirational and it’s always fun to see your work in a different medium.
You can see all the illustrations here, in the online magazine – and, if you’re anything like me I’m sure you’ll find more than a thing or two to whet your shopping appetite!
On Friday Summer is officially over. On Friday we commence the third month of 2013. How did this happen!?
What a year it has been already for me. Last week (including this weekend just gone) I exhibited at Life InStyle here in Sydney. I cannot tell you how fantastic the experience was for me. It was absolutely brilliant to spend time with other creatives, particularly other creatives who run their own businesses. I met so many wonderful people – if you took the time to stop by my booth and say hello, thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you and your encouraging words about my work meant so much!
Life InStyle was a great practice run for me as I busily work towards the National Stationery Show in NYC in May. I have so many exciting plans and new designs in the works for this show and am looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. I’m also looking forward to catching up with friends that I made there last year. I am certainly feeling inspired by all the things I saw and feedback I received over the four days at Life InStyle.
Now that I feel like I’m back on track (there was so much behind the scenes to prepare for Life InStyle), I’m hoping to be able to blog a little bit more regularly. I hope you’ll stop by occasionally.
I think one of the things I love most about Pinterest is it’s ability to inspire by introducing you to the work of so many talented artists, craftsmen, and illustrators.
Mariann Doherty of Going Danish is one such artist. Based in Denmark, it is of little wonder that her work, which is quirky, naive and imaginative, is particularly appealing to me. (I especially love The Sun, featured top & Mother & Child, below). These joyful illustrations would look stunning in a child’s room, don’t you think?
Good morning lovely ones! I’m not sure what happened to last week, but before I knew it Friday was upon me! Is it just me, or does this seem to happen more and more at this time of year? Certainly this is the case for me as the orders pour in for Christmas and I frantically try to keep on top of it all and prepare for the new year.
I just had to share the above image. Those little black marks you can see in the centre of the photo are dolphins and they completely and utterly made my day last Monday! You can make out about 4 here, but there was probably about a dozen or so (maybe even more) frolicking their way down the coast. It was early in the morning and the perfect way to celebrate the start of a new week.
Sydney certainly welcomed Summer in all her glory this weekend. It was hot and sticky and all together welcome after the slightly dreary weather we have been having. Matt and I recently purchased a camper trailer and I cannot tell you how much it made me look forward to using it over our Christmas break.
How was your weekend? Do you enjoy the heat?
This week, I’m delighted to be featured over at The Beetleshack. Em’s blog is gorgeous and inspiring and well worth popping over to. You could score yourself a few goodies from the store – stop in to find out how!
I stumbled upon this sweet poster this morning, and couldn’t help but share.
Sorry for the lack of posts recently, as Christmas approaches so too do my trips to the post office to send out orders – and with keeping on top of all my other work, I’ve been feeling a tad busy, pushing this little blog to the wayside!
Have you got your hands on Inside Out’s Summer Entertaining Special yet? For me, this stunning magazine always spells the start of the Christmas season as I pour over it’s pages and am inspired by the festive, summery delights. I was honoured to be included (again) in their Christmas greeting card round up. I particularly love the Tree card featured here too (bottom right), it’s always fun to see what other stationers are creating!
You can find the Dove Greeting Card here.
Happy Monday! Do you have nice things planned for the week ahead? Something to look forward to? Can you believe how close we are to the end of the year?
I’ve been enjoying spending the early morning down by the water recently, starting my day with fresh salty air and the sun on the horizon. It has made me reflect often about the simple pleasures in life and I find that it clears my mind for the day ahead.
As we commence the downhill slide to the end of the year, here’s to hoping that we can slow down the pace just a tad, and remember that every day it’s worth taking some time out for the treasures right before us that we’re often too busy to notice.
*beautiful sunrise from this morning, it’s what makes the waytooearlyalarm worthwhile
